Fossil unveils smartwatch with blood O2 monitoring and quick charging

Fossil Group has reportedly launched its new Gen 6 touchscreen smartwatch lineup. The watch will have two size variants- 42 mm and 44 mm. These watches will be priced around $325.30 (Rs 23,995) to $338.86 (Rs 24,995). The Gen 6 smartwatch will be available to Indian consumers starting September 27. It will be available offline at select retail stores as well as online on Fossil’s official website and partner Amazon’s platform.

The watch, powered by Qualcomm® Snapdragon Wear 4100+ Platform, will offer users faster app load times, efficient power consumption, and responsive user experiences.

The timepiece, with a touchscreen digital display of 1.28’’, will be held within a stainless-steel case. It is swim-proof up to 30 meters (3 ATM) and has 1 GB RAM and 8 GB of storage. The bracelets and straps are interchangeable.

According to the company, the battery charging speed of the watch is a rapid 80% in 30 minutes. Users will also get continuous tracking of heart rate, speaker functionality to receive as well as make calls, and a new SpO2 sensor. The blood O2 monitoring sensor calculates an estimated measurement of the wearer’s blood oxygen to see how well the oxygen circulates in their body.

The Gen 6 smartwatch will be compatible with Wear OS 3, the new system update of Google which was announced earlier in 2021. The watch will be eligible for the system update of Wear OS 3 in 2022.

Johnson Verghese, the Managing Director of Fossil Group India commented that the Gen 6 is a great proof of innovation. The company has expressed its pride at presenting the new SpO2 sensor as well as rapid battery charging speeds among other enhanced features. He added that Fossil is excited to introduce Gen 6 in the Indian market at the same time as the U.S. and other crucial regions across the world.
