Infosys forms joint venture with Hitachi, Panasonic and Pasona

The new joint venture will help Japanese corporations to pace up business process transformation using next-generation digital procurement platforms for the local and global needs.

India’s major IT company, Infosys, has formed a new joint venture with Hitachi, Panasonic and Pasona to strategically enhance its presence in Japan. Reportedly, the new joint venture has been named HIPUS.

According to the press release by Infosys, the company will own 81 percent of the stake in Hitachi Procurement Service Co., Ltd., which is a fully owned subsidiary of Hitachi and presently handles indirect purchasing functions of materials for the Hitachi Group. The minority shares will be owned by Hitachi, Panasonic and Pasona.

The joint venture will help Japanese corporations to pace up business process transformation using next-generation digital procurement platforms for the local and global needs. Infosys will implement its global expertise in procurement methods, analytics, consulting and digital technologies such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to the venture.

Together with Panasonic and Hitachi's knowledge of procurement functions and local teams, and Pasona's BPM networks and human capital in Japan, the JV will offer end-to-end, differentiated, high value and efficient procurement capabilities to corporations.

For the record, the new venture named HIPUS Co., Ltd., has elected Shinichiro Nagagata, as Chief Executive Officer. The headquarter of the joint venture will be in Japan and more than 200 employees will be hired to be a part of this establishment.
