Disney-Mattel sign licensing contract for Frozen & Disney Princess franchises

Mattel Inc. has reportedly announced a multi-year global licensing contract for the Disney Frozen and Disney Princess franchises.

Mattel will secure the global licensing rights to make toy lines for Disney Consumer Products, Games, and Publishing which includes small dolls, fashion dolls, and figures. The collection is expected to unveil at retailers worldwide at the beginning of 2023.

Under the agreement, Mattel will make dolls based on Disney Princess which includes Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Cinderella, Brave, The Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, Mulan, The Princess and the Frog, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Disney Frozen, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid Live Action, Tiana D+ Series, Moana D+ Series, Beauty & the Beast Live Action, Aladdin Live Action, Mulan Live Action, and Cinderella Live Action.

Richard Dickson, the Chief Operating Officer and President of Mattel expressed that the company seeks to introduce its unique approach of Mattel Playbook to brand management, marketing, and product expertise as well as unprecedented attention to quality and detail to create inspiring and innovative lines for these archetypical characters and stories.

The new licensing contract builds on the current licensing agreement between Disney and Mattel for Pixar Animation Studio’s franchises of Toy Story and Cars as well as the recently announced worldwide licensing contract for Lightyear.

According to Stephanie Young, the President of Disney Consumer Products, Games and Publishing the compassion and courage found through the stories and characters of Frozen and Disney Princess continue to motivate fans worldwide.

Young added that by extending this longstanding association with Mattel, the company seeks to expand the worlds of Disney Princess and Frozen, bringing a new era of these cherished franchises through enthralling play opportunities and products.
